Introduction on Protection Function of HCL2840 Dielectric Loss Tester

HCL2840 dielectric tester applies multiple safety protection measures to ensure safety of people and test instrument.

 l  High voltage protection: the instrument will automatically cut out output with short circuit in circumstances of test object short out, breakdown or high voltage current fluctuation. On condition that high voltage line grounded, high voltage line oxide layer too thick causing loose contact and strikes fire, or detachment of measuring line or high voltage line will trigger protection mechanism. 

l  Low voltage protection: protection mechanism will be activated on condition of misconnection to 380V power supply, power fluctuation or abrupt power out, situations mentioned won't cause overvoltage, also under circumstances of poor socket connection, virtue connection of the power lead, overvoltage input.  

l  Ground protection: ground protection will be activated on condition of grounding failure causing hazardous voltage on the machine shell. This instrument applies the new technology of intelligent judgment on ground protection which will be triggered as soon as hazardous voltage is detected on the machine shell.  

l  CVT: four protection limit of HV voltage and current, low-voltage voltage and current prevent the instrument from damage; mistake on menu setting will not lead to excitation voltage output. 
"Capacitive rise" is obvious during CVT self-excitation dielectric test, due to large CVT coupling capacitance (>40000P), a few volt of voltage rise on the secondary side will cause voltage rise on the primary side amount to kilovolt. Please maintain rigorous inspection and make sure voltage of the primary side (point A) below 3kV, current of the secondary side below 6A, which explains the necessity of the four protection limitation of HV voltage and current, low-voltage voltage and current during CVT measurement with type HCL2840C/D, HCL2840 automatically adjust voltage accurately according to the four protection limitation, to ensure safety of the test instrument. 

l  Misoperation prevention: two-level power switch; real-time display of voltage and current; multiple confirmation; distinct wiring terminal for high voltage and low voltage; audible and visual alarm.

l  "Capacitive rise" prevention: "capacitive rise" effect causing voltage rise appears during measurement of large capacity sample, the instrument is capable of tracking output voltage automatically and maintain constant test voltage.

l  Vibration resistance: the instrument applies exclusive design of vibration resistance, capable of tolerating violent and long-distance vibration without damage.

 l  High voltage cable: applies insulated conductor that withstands high voltage which can be grounded during measurement.
