First 110kV Module Smart Substation Shines Sichuan

HIMALAYAL - SHANGHAI - CHINA

Several debugging staff were working in the first 110kV module intelligent substation in Xiangbi town Cuiping district Yibin city Sichuan province on 20th May, 2016. There batches of grid experts, 11o in total,  from 27 organizations and 22 cities within Sichuan province successively came to the substation for visit and communication.

It is reported that the substation is located at the Xiangbi town Cuiping district Yibin city, and is the key project in the Minjiang new district. With the development of Minjiang new district, the load increases sharply. In 2015, the maximum load reached 39MW in this district, and is expected to reach 45MW by 2017. However, only one available 35kV substation (2×6.3MVA) supplies the electricity, which cannot meet the increasing demand for the electricity now. In order to facilitate the development of Minjiang new district and improve the reliability and quality of power supplying, the 110kV power transmission and distribution project is urgently needed to be constructed.

The substation was listed in the first batch of 110(66)kV module intelligent substation trial projects in August 2014 through active endeavours made by State Grid Sichuan Electric Power Company and State Grid Yibin Power Supply Company. The State Grid Yibin Power Supply Company strove to advance the project by delicate organization, experience exploration and achievement summary.

Compared with common 110kV intelligent substations, module intelligent substation is smaller and the structure is more compact. Some ¥42 million was reportedly invested in the 110kV power transmission and distribution project, which is expected to be completed by June 2016. It is believed that the substation will supply the stable electricity and create great social and economic benefits.
