Hunan Innovative Electric Project Fills the Technical Gap

HIMALAYAL - SHANGHAI - CHINA

Technicians from Hunan Electric Maintenance Company made further improvements to the research on the strategy for HVAC/DC photoelectric current transformer board detection and fault diagnosis on 9th November. The project fills the technical gap of HVDC photoelectric current transformer and enhance the reliability of power supply.

As the core measuring equipment of HVDC transmission system, the HVDC/AC photoelectric current transformer is widely applied in the domestic DC converter stations. The stable and safe operation of HVDC/AC photoelectric current transformer is of significance for power grid DC system, especially reliable power supply of Three-Gorges to Guangdong DC cross-district grid. Because the structure of current transformer and its secondary circuit is complex and has high failure rate, primary equipment should stop operating for exchanging spare parts if dealing with faults. However, if the power is off, we cannot check whether the new spare parts are good or bad. The inspection at operating condition affects the reliability of equipment.

To improve the efficiency of equipment inspection, the company studied the strategy for HVDC photoelectric current transformer board detection and fault diagnosis and offered a kind of systematic method of dealing with typical faults. The method can be extensively applied. Using this method can shorten fault inspection, location and treatment time and reduce the number of temporary system pauses.
