China XD Group Successfully Developed the Environmental Protection Energy-saving Power Transformer with High Power

On 28th March, 2016, the 220kV830MVA three-phase power transformer developed by China XD Group Corporation for Zouping Yidian 6×660MW unit passed all tests one time. Moreover, all performance indexes meet or are superior to national standards and the requirements of technical agreement.  

The 660MW unit belongs to ultra supercritical unit, the efficiency and environmental performance of which are better than small-capacity unit. The market prospect for ultra supercritical generating unit with large capacity is broad thanks to an increasing attention on anti-pollution. Before that, step-up transformers developed by China XD Group Corporation are concentrated in the field of 500kV and 750kV, lacking the variety of product in the 220kV stage.   


At present, the 220kV three-phase power transformer designed by China XD has the largest capacity. Therefore, the key factor is how to control leakage flux of equipment body and design high-current lead structure. Power transformers are used to increase (or step-up) voltage before transmitting electrical energy over long distances through wires. They are also used extensively in electronic products to decrease (or step-down) the supply voltage to a level suitable for the low voltage circuits they contain. 

The successful development of 220kV 830MVA three-phase power transformer considerably advances the key technology of large-capacity power transformer design and production, accelerates the upgrading of product, and provides strong technical support for sustainable development of companies.
